Abstract
Climate sensitivity measures how temperatures change in response to an increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations. Recently, panel data econometrics have been fruitful in providing an alternative measure of the climate sensitivity using observation-based studies. We investigate regional heterogeneity in the climate sensitivity using a varying coefficient approach in the dynamic panel model setting. The model coefficients are allowed to vary according to geographic factors. We find that regional heterogeneity does exist and distance to coast and latitude are important explanatory factors for said heterogeneity.
