The Center for Leadership and Innovation for Women of the Americas in Peru and the Institute for Democratic Development in Mexico awarded María del Carmen Nava Polina for her career and influence in the political life of the country. She has been recognized for being one of the main promoters of political, economic and development rights.

María del Carmen Nava has a degree in Political Science from ITAM and a PhD from the Instituto de Mediación de México. During her career, she has been trained in prestigious academic institutions such as the University of California in Saint Fiego, Palo Alto University, Washington University in Saint Louis, to name a few. She is currently a Citizen Commissioner of Transparency, researcher and coordinator of the Commission for Open Government and Proactive Transparency in the National Transparency System.
